Selini Halvadaki (b. 1985) is a Danish–Greek visual artist based in Copenhagen.

Working across video, printmaking, and ceramics, Halvadaki examines memory, history, and identity at the intersection of personal and collective experience, with a focus on image production and language. Collaboration is central to Halvadaki’s practice, extending into long-term partnerships and collective organizing that test alternative modes of production and display.

In recent years, Halvadaki’s artistic inquiry has concentrated on language as both material and subject. Rooted in the lived experience of navigating two linguistic spheres—Danish and Greek—with differing levels of fluency, her work frames communication as at once intimate and fractured. Translation is treated not as a linear transfer between languages but as a generative, autonomous process. She approaches it as a self-sufficient language shaped by hesitation, misunderstanding, and reinterpretation—destabilizing fixed notions of authorship and authority, and reframing them as sites of creative potential.

Translation, in this sense, becomes a critical method for examining the construction of cultural belonging and identity.

Halvadaki’s work has been presented at international film festivals including Images Festival (Toronto), CPH:DOX—Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, Athens International Short Film Festival, KINO DER KUNST (Munich), and Lo schermo dell’arte Film Festival (Florence), as well as nationally at institutions such as O—Overgaden—Institute of Contemporary Art, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, and Nikolaj Kunsthal (Copenhagen).

Halvadaki holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2014).
